Police: Suspect Slashed Woman In Neck In Jamaica, Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Tuesday evening were asking for help in finding a suspect who allegedly slashed a woman in the neck and seriously injured her in Jamaica, Queens.

Around 5:17 a.m. this past Wednesday, the 26-year-old woman was inside the lobby of a building at 90-23 171st St. in Queens when the suspect began chatting her up against her will, police said.

When the woman turned away, the suspect grabbed her from behind and used an unspecified cutting instrument to slash her in the neck, police said.

The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she was reported in critical, but stable, condition, police said.

The suspect was described as a male black or Hispanic about 20 years old, with brown eyes and short black hair, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing black sneakers and blue jeans, police said. Police have released surveillance video.
