South Windsor Official Wants To Speed Up Approval Process For State Roads Involved In Town Projects
SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - One town manager in Connecticut isn't too happy about the time it takes to get local projects greenlit.
Matthew Galligan, town manager of South Windsor, told WCBS 880's Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau the problem starts at the top
Galligan, who also heads the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, explained the difficulties involved in moving a local road project ahead when a cross-street involves a state road. He said he would like the state to simply sign off on the the local projects so they can move forward, Schneidau reported.
He also said dollars to fix state and local roads are shrinking, while the price and cost of materials to fix roads are skyrocketing.

"I think it kind of really needs to be a partnership between the town and the DOT," Galligan said.
Galligan says reorganization needs to begin at the top with the feds.
"It's five years, from the time we put the application in, and five years until we get anything done," he said.
