NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating the stabbing death of a woman in Brooklyn.

She had been stabbed multiple times, police said.

EMS took Thomas to Kings County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The victim's 20-year-old son was taken into custody, but police have not charged him yet, CBS 2 reported.

One neighbor said Thomas and her son had a strained relationship, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported.

"He used to take drugs, but he never was impaired or acting funny around the kids here," the neighbor said. "I never noticed anything from him at all, no bad behavior from him."

The neighbor also said Thomas was always down on her luck and seemed to be battling one problem after another, Schuck reported.

"She looked troubled but she wasn't a problem, didn't bother anybody, just she looks troubled," the neighbor said.
