Renee Zellweger Addresses Red Carpet Look That Sparked Media Frenzy

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Did she or didn't she? Renee Zellweger spoke out on Wednesday, about the red carpet appearance that started a media frenzy.

Now, it seems that everyone has an opinion as to whether or not the movie star went under the knife.

As CBS 2's Vanessa Murdock reported, for some the change has been jaw dropping.

"I was just like, 'oh wow, oh my god," Daniel Valdes said.

In a statement to People the star said she was happy that people thinks she looks different.

"I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," she said, "It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door."

Clinical psychologist Dr. Judy Kuriansky said that it's typical to say you look different because you are healthy and happy, but stressed that it is also a cover.

"When everybody agrees that you don't look the same, I don't know how you can possibly say from a psychologically sound point of view, 'it's because I'm happy," she explained.

So why doesn't Zellweger own it and admit that she's had work done? Dr. Kuriansky said that it's likely because she wants people to feel that she is all natural.

Fans told CBS 2 that her new look is anything but natural.

"She got some nice work done. Good for her, bravo. Bravo Renee, wish I could do the same for myself," Jane Kennedy said.

Zellweger said that she is different, and happy.

"Perhaps I look different. Who doesn't as they get older? Ha. But I am different. I'm happy," she said.

Seemingly happy, no matter how different her face looks.
