$25K Reward Offered In Stray Bullet Death Of Irvington Toddler

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A $25,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest in connection with the shooting of a New Jersey toddler who was killed by a stray bullet that entered her family's apartment.

The shooting happened back on Oct. 11 in Irvington.

Three men wearing hoods opened fire as they walked up Ellis Avenue, spraying bullets as they went, authorities said.

One of the bullets passed through a wall and hit 15-month-old Sanai Cunningham, who was bouncing on a bed in a bedroom as both her parents watched, authorities said.

They immediately took the child to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Prosecutors said the family had moved into the second floor apartment just two days before.

Police have been searching for the suspects since the shooting, but so far no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4-EC or 1-877-847-7432.
