Mets' Juan Lagares A Finalist For National League Gold Glove Award

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Juan Lagares is one of three finalists for the National League Gold Glove Award in center field.

The other finalists are the Reds' Billy Hamilton and the Nationals' Denard Span.

The award winners, recognized for their defensive excellence, will be announced on November 4.

In his second season with the Mets, the silky-smooth outfielder committed just five errors in 304 total chances and made highlight-reel play after highlight-reel play.

Mets superstar David Wright isn't a finalist at third base. The Rockies' Nolan Arenado, the Giants' Pablo Sandoval and the Dodgers' Juan Uribe are up for the award.

Wright won Gold Glove Awards in 2007 and 2008.

If Lagares wins the individual award he'll likely be joined by Jacob deGrom, who is expected to be named the National League Rookie of the Year.

Coincidentally, deGrom's main competition is Gold Glove Award finalist Hamilton.
