Police Search For Suspect Who Allegedly Raped Woman On Upper East Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police late Friday were searching for a suspect who they say raped a woman on the side of a building on the Upper East Side.

The attack happened around 4:40 a.m. Friday, on 76th Street between First and York avenues, police told 1010 WINS.

The New York Daily News reported the woman was approached from behind by a man who asked her for a lighter. He allegedly then grabbed her, forced her to the side of a building, and raped her, the newspaper reported.

The suspect was described as a black male standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall wearing a black hooded sweat shirt with white text, police told the newspaper.
