The New Jersey Devils snapped a four-game winless streak and improved to 4-1-0 on the road this season with a 3-2 overtime victory Saturday night in Ottawa.

Jaromir Jagr extended his NHL records with the 19th overtime and 125th game-winning goal of his career in the victory.

According to the Team Game Finder on hockey-reference.com, the win was just the Devils' third in eight regular-season overtime games against the Senators in Ottawa:

• 10/25/14: NJD 3 at Ott 2, Jaromir Jagr

• 1/2/12: NJD 2 at Ott 3, Daniel Alfredsson

• 12/14/02: NJD 3 at Ott 4, Mike Fisher

• 2/8/01: NJD 4 at Ott 4 (Tie)

• 1/3/00: NJD 4 at Ott 3, Brendan Morrison

• 10/11/99: NJD 2 at Ott 2 (Tie)

• 2/3/96: NJD 3 at Ott 2, Randy McKay

• 12/3/92: NJD 3 at Ott 3 (Tie)

New Jersey has gone 2-2 all time in shootouts against the Senators in Ottawa, and lost both of the two overtime games played there in the postseason in club history.

New Jersey lost its 18th consecutive shootout -- dating back to March 15, 2013 at Philadelphia -- and extended its NHL-record losing streak with the 3-2 loss to Dallas last Friday night at Prudential Center.

The Devils have now dropped 21 of 23 shootouts since the beginning of the work-stoppage shortened 2012-13 season, and have fallen to 56-50 overall since 2005-06.

New Jersey did not suffer its 18th shootout loss in club history until its 48th shootout, dropping to 30-18 all time in the tiebreaker back on December 16, 2008. The Devils have now gone 26-32 in shootouts since.

The Devils did not have a power-play opportunity against the Stars, the first time that has happened to New Jersey since February 19, 2012 at Montreal.

Here are the 11 regular-season games since the 1987-88 season in which the Devils have not had a power play. It's just the second time it's happened on home ice:

• 10/24/14 vs. Dallas: L 3-2 (SO)

• 2/19/12 at Montreal: W 3-1

• 10/27/11 at Phoenix: L 5-3

• 4/2/10 vs. Chicago: L 2-1 (SO)

• 1/26/10 at Ottawa: L 3-0

• 11/10/07 at NY Islanders: L 2-1

• 1/29/02 at NY Islanders: W 3-1

• 1/21//01 at Minnesota: W 4-2

• 12/7/00 at Buffalo: L 5-2

• 2/29/00 at Nashville: W 2-1

• 1/26/00 at Florida: W 3-2

Cory Schneider has made all eight starts in goal this season for New Jersey, the only remaining NHL goaltender to make all of his team's starts. He's gone 4-2-2.

Schneider is the first Devils goalie other than Martin Brodeur to start that many consecutive games at the start of a season since Chris Terreri began each of New Jersey's first 12 contests back in 1991-92.

Here are the seasons in which a Devils goalie started at least the first eight games of the schedule for New Jersey:

• 19: Martin Brodeur, 2001-02

• 17: Martin Brodeur, 2002-03

• 12: Chris Terreri, 1991-92

• 11: Martin Brodeur, 2003-04

• 10: Martin Brodeur, 2010-11

• 10: Martin Brodeur, 2009-10

• 9: Martin Brodeur, 2005-06

• 8: Cory Schneider, 2014-15

Through eight games, the Devils' penalty-killing is the worst in the NHL, having allowed 11 power-play goals in 35 shorthanded situations (68.6 percent).

New Jersey has led the league in penalty-killing percentage in two of the last three seasons, including a record 89.6 rating in 2011-12.

The Devils have allowed at least one power-play goal in all but one of their eight games so far this season, including their last five in a row.

The last time New Jersey gave up at least one power-play goal in five straight games was back on February 9 through February 16 of 2013, also a five-game streak.

The last time the Devils had a streak of power-play goals allowed longer than five games was back in 2008-09, when New Jersey surrendered a power-play goal in 11 consecutive games from October 6 through November 2. The Devils finished that season tied for 20th in penalty-killing percentage in the NHL.

Schwei's Plus/Minus:

Plus: Damon Severson -- The rookie defenseman recorded a goal and an assist for his team-leading third multiple-point game of the season in the win in Ottawa. With four goals overall, he is one behind Calgary's Dennis Wideman for the league lead among defensemen.

Minus: Shootout Shutouts -- New Jersey has lost 18 consecutive shootouts and has failed to score a goal on any shootout attempts in 14 of the last 16.
