Yankees, Mets Step Up To Plate After Break-In At Yogi Berra Museum

LITTLE FALLS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Major League Baseball and both New York clubs are helping to pick up the pieces after a break-in at the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center.

The museum said the Mets, Yankees and MLB will be "donating exact replicas of the items" stolen on Oct. 7.

"In addition, they also are donating several new items to our existing collection, ensuring that the museum will be an even better place for fans to visit in honor of Yogi's legacy," the Yogi Berra Museum announced in a statement Monday.

Berra's museum — on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, New Jersey — opened in December 1998 and houses memorabilia from the 89-year-old's Hall of Fame career. Several of the Yankees legend's World Series rings and two MVP plaques were taken in the burglary, according to police.

A reward for information leading to an arrest was up to $15,000 as of Oct. 9.

"Our heartfelt thanks go out to Commissioner (Bud) Selig and Major League Baseball, the Yankees and the Mets for their generosity, as well as to all of the fans and friends of the museum for their concern and support during this difficult time," the museum said.
