Giants Running Back Rashad Jennings To Miss Third Straight Game

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Running back Rashad Jennings will not play on Monday night when the Giants host the Colts at MetLife Stadium.

It will be the third straight game that Jennings, who is nursing a sprained MCL, has missed. New York has lost its last two with the 29-year-old out of the lineup.

Jennings, who the Giants signed to a  four-year, $14 million contract in March, injured his knee against the Falcons in Week 5.

The team was hopeful that Jennings would be able to return following the bye week, but he still needs more time to fully recover.

Rookie Andre Williams and veteran Peyton Hillis will be the two main backs against the Colts. Williams hasn't risen to the occasion with Jennings sidelined. He gained 59 yards on the ground in Philadelphia in Week 6 and 51 yards on the ground against the Cowboys in Week 7, not scoring a touchdown in either game.

In five games for Big Blue, Jennings has carried the ball 91 times for 396 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and two touchdowns. He's also caught 11 passes for 109 yards.
