Nassau Police Seek Man Who Attacked, Robbed Woman In Uniondale

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Nassau County are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect who attacked and robbed a young woman inside her home.

Detectives said a 19-year-old woman was in her bedroom at her home on Newport Road in Uniondale Saturday at around 4:50 a.m. when a man entered and made a sexual advance toward her.

The suspect then punched the woman in the face, took her cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the house, police said.

The woman suffered a small laceration to her lip, but refused medical attention at the scene.

The man was last seen running south on Newport Road toward Front Street.

Authorities described the suspect as a black male, between 40 and 50 years old, 6-feet-tall and about 200 lbs. He was wearing dark clothing and a dark hooded sweatshirt, and could possibly have a Caribbean accent, police said.

Nassau detectives urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Nassau County Police Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
