Search On For 4 Suspects In Robbery Of Cab Driver In Paterson, N.J.

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police announced that surveillance images and video had been obtained Monday, showing the robbery of a taxi cab in Paterson, New Jersey in progress.

In the early morning hours this past Tuesday, the driver of a Green Taxi Cab Co. cab picked up four men and took them to Crosby and Marion avenues, where he was set to drop them off, Paterson police said.

As he was in the process of dropping the men off, one of the passengers – behind a partially-open partition in the back seat – point a handgun ant the driver's head and demanded that the driver give him the money he had.

The front-seat passenger also held a knife to the driver's neck, police said.

The suspects took the driver's money and cellphone and ran off, police said.

The video from inside the cab shows the entire robbery in progress. First, the man in the front passenger's seat – dressed in a hoodie – directs the driver to take the group "down where the trees" are.

When the cab stops, the back seat passenger points a black handgun at the driver, while the front-seat passenger says, "Give me the f***ing money" and approaches the driver, appearing to hold a knife to his neck.

Police asked for assistance in identifying the front-seat passenger whose face is seen in the video, and have released a still image.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at (973) 321-1120 or (973) 523-TIPS.
