Zing! Alderson Fires Back At Boras, References 'Where He Gets His Bulls---'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Sandy Alderson doesn't forget.

And he'll fire back when you least expect it.

No, we're not talking about baseball moves. We're talking about trash talk.

For years, agent Scott Boras has made fun of the Mets and Alderson for their lack of spending and financial flexibility.

In 2011, Boras said the Mets were shopping in the "fruits and nuts" aisle. He kept the supermarket analogy going the following year, saying New York was looking in the "freezer" section.

After the Mets aggressively signed Michael Cuddyer on Monday, Boras said that the Mets were finally shopping in the "ready-foods section."

On Thursday, the Mets' general manager responded, and it was certainly worth the wait.

Keeping with the tradition of the supermarket analogies, Alderson said, "Boras has been shopping near the meat section. That's where he gets his bulls–t."

Zing!

In 2013, Boras said the Amazin's needed more astronauts, and on Wednesday he said, "This is a franchise that has got a monstrous foundation and they just have to put a few more astronauts in there to have it blast off."

With the glaring outfield hole taken care of, the next thing on Alderson's checklist is a shortstop. Unlike his first free-agent signing, he'll likely be more patient with this position and see how the market plays out before making any significant moves.
