Bayonne, New Jersey Dedicates First New Fire Station In Over 80 Years
BAYONNE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Bayonne, New Jersey on Monday dedicated the first standalone fire station to be built in the city in more than 80 years.
As 1010 WINS' Rebecca Granet reported, U.S. Sen Robert Menendez and Reps. Donald Payne Jr. and Albio Sires were all on hand to dedicate the fire station, which consolidates the services of three stations that have been closed.

"This station, ladies and gentlemen, is now our largest fire station in the city of Bayonne," said Bayonne Fire Chief Gregory Rogers.
While wearing fire hats, a group of second graders watched the dedication with their second-grade class. One girl said she might want to become a firefighter.
"I want to learn how to save people," he said.
Rogers said that was the main point of the occasion.
"It's all about protecting the people of Bayonne – young to old," he said.
The over 10,000 square-foot facility was made possible by a multi-million dollar FEMA grant.
