Giants OC Ben McAdoo Says Offense Has Taken A Step Back
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Giants, losers of five straight, have really struggled offensively during their winless streak.
The offensive line has been a mess and the running game was ineffective with Rashad Jennings on the sidelines with an injury.
Jennings returned to action last week against the 49ers but was held in check, rushing for 59 yards on 18 carries.
And then there was quarterback Eli Manning, who had one of the worst games of his career. The two-time Super Bowl MVP threw five interceptions and completed less than 50 percent of his passes.
First-year offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo can't do anything but keep working to improve the unit.
Still, he acknowledges that there are issues.
"We took a step back," McAdoo said in regard to the offense.
Big Blue will look to get back in the win column on Sunday night when it hosts the division-rival Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. In order to pull off the upset, Manning and Co. will need to put up some points against a Dallas team that can really score.
"They gave great effort, but in this league, as we all know, that's not good enough," McAdoo said. "We need to handle the stunts better and execute a little better."
