Authorities: 2 Men Killed In Irvington, NJ, Street Shooting

IRVINGTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Two men have died following a street shooting in Essex County.

The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Irvington, authorities said.

The men -- ages 20 and 21 -- were walking on the 600 block of Chancellor Avenue when they were shot. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other died a short time later at a hospital.

Further details on the shooting have not been disclosed, including what type of weapon was used and how many shooters may have been involved. The names of the victims also have not been released.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

The slayings account for the 13th and 14th homicides in the township this year, NJ.com reported.
