11/24 CBS2 Monday Evening Weather Headlines

By Giorgio Panetta, CBS 2 Chief Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good Monday evening,

So talk about a taste of spring... wow!

We saw near record warmth in many locations, as temps soared into the upper 60s and even 70s! Newark, New Jersey saw an afternoon high of 74, just one example of how balmy it felt out there today.

As quick as it came, though, we're headed back to winter-like weather by mid-week.

Clouds will continue to decrease tonight, becoming mostly clear with overnight lows in the low 50s.

For tomorrow, you're fine. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs reaching the mid to upper 50s. Cooler than today, but it will definitely be the pick of the week.

Then, eyes turn toward our coastal system that will unfortunately be making a mess on the busiest travel day of the year.

For now, the latest suggests we start out as a chilly rain for the city. As cold air gets pulled into the region, temps will begin to fall during the day on Wednesday and a wintry mix is likely, eventually changing to a wet snow as we near the late afternoon and evening on Wednesday.

Again, this is the current set-up for NYC. The further north and west you go, the more accumulating snow you are likely to see. Right now, it looks like up to 6"+ in the far N/W suburbs, down to 1-3" closer to the coast.

Of course, this can change, so you'll want to check back for the latest updates.

The good news is this whole mess wraps up late Wednesday night, and Thanksgiving Day is lookin' good! It will be chilly out there for the parade, with temps in the 30s, but it will be dry.
