Experts: Savvy Shoppers Can Get An Early Start On Black Friday Savings

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Many shoppers are making a plan of attack for Black Friday, but you might not want to wait.

As CBS2's Elise Finch reported, the deals started on Monday.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are traditionally considered to be the best, but analysts say Thanksgiving Day deals might be even better.

"Online prices will hit rock bottom on Thanksgiving Day where you will snag an average discount of 24 percent," CBS Senior Business Analyst, Jill Schlessinger, explained.

Shoppers can expect similar savings in stores.

"Retailers will be rolling out doorbusters on Thanksgiving Thursday, so there will be deals and for the shopper who wants that specific deal you have to go out on Thursday to get it," Bloomberg Intelligence Retail Analyst, Poonam Goyal, said.

"A lot of stores open at 6 p.m. and I find that a little more convenient than going early in the morning Friday," David Monsour said.

Dealnews, a consumer shopping website, says Thanksgiving will offer the best deals on cameras, televisions, tablets, android phones, video games, and movies.

"Everything is on sale this day, so we'll get a good, good price," Mohammed Swidan said.

There are still people who say no matter how good the deals are there is nothing that could make them shop on Thanksgiving Day.

"Shopping can wait, so even if it was the best deal ever I would never go out on Thanksgiving," Allison Elam said.

If that's how you feel, don't worry. Dealnews says Black Friday is known for rock bottom prices on laptops, iPhones, headphones, kitchen items, and garden items.

Cyber Monday has historically offered some of the deepest discounts on toys, shoes, clothing, beauty items, and travel.

Experts say the goal of spreading out the best deals is to prevent long lines, stampedes, even riots on Black Friday.

If you want to avoid shopping on Thanksgiving you can actually start now.
