11/25 Tuesday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Justin Lewis, CBS2 Meteorologist

Good afternoon, everyone...

There's nothing to fret about the remainder of the day. Sunshine will be limited, but it stays generally quiet. And cooler -- nearly 15° cooler than yesterday! Hope you enjoyed those 60s and 70s!

We stay quiet through the evening. As we move into the second half of the overnight, we'll see some rain move into our southernmost counties; light rain is expected in the city by around sunrise.

For the first several hours of the morning tomorrow it will stay wet. As colder air gets wrapped into the system though, around midday, we'll begin to see some mixing. Wet snow will accumulate through the afternoon and early evening hours, possibly mixing with more rain at times. But either way you slice it, it will be a mess out there.

Snowfall amounts will be 1-3" in the city (leaning slightly towards the higher end) when the storm wraps up late tomorrow evening; 3-6" are expected just north and west of the city; 6+" in the far northwest suburbs.

There may be some cleaning up to do come Thanksgiving morning (especially north and west of the city), but the weather overall is looking far better. Expect a mix of clouds and sun, and temperatures in the low 40s.

Friday looks okay for the shoppers, but it will certainly be cold out there. Expect a high in the upper 30s with more sunshine.

We'll have more details tonight on this impending storm, so be sure to check back!
