Mayor De Blasio Won't Spend First Thanksgiving In Office At Gracie Mansion

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio won't be spending his first Thanksgiving in office at Gracie Mansion.

De Blasio said Tuesday that he and his family will be spending the holiday at his cousin's home in Connecticut.

The liberal Democrat joked that he is a progressive but "very traditional" about Thanksgiving.

He said that he expected the menu to have turkey, stuffing and at least two kinds of pies.

De Blasio, who took office in January, left his Brooklyn home to move to the official mayoral mansion in Manhattan.

He has since hosted several holiday events there, including Halloween trick-or-treating, but the home will be dark on Thursday.
