11/26 Wednesday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Justin Lewis, CBS2 Meteorologist

Good afternoon, everyone...

Snow continues to fall north and west of the city while areas south and east are seeing a mix or just plain rain. Winds will remain blustery out of the northeast... gusts as high as 40-50 mph across Long Island the second half of the afternoon. We could see a light, messy snow accumulation before the day is out; areas N&W will see several inches of snow (depending on how far you go).

There could be a brief period of more mixing/rain, maybe even a lull in activity as we head into the first half of the evening. Thereafter, we could see one more burst of snow before our system exits around 11pm. It will remain blustery (again, the strongest gusts will be across Long Island) through the evening with final snow accumulations of 1-3+" in and around the city; 3-6" for the immediate NY/NJ inland suburbs; 6+" across northern NJ and the northern half of the Hudson Valley; 1-2" of rain for Long Island and coastal communities.

Thanksgiving will be much quieter with cold conditions for the parade. It will remain chilly into the afternoon with limited sunshine. There could even be a stray shower or snow shower into the afternoon, but it stays generally quiet.

It will be another chilly one for the Black Friday shoppers, but we'll see more sunshine. Saturday's still on the chilly side with some extra clouds.

Check back for more on the storm and your holiday weekend!
