Isles Trade Andrey Pedan To Canucks For Alexandre Mallet, Third-Round Pick

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (CBSNewYork/AP) — The Vancouver Canucks have acquired defenseman Andrey Pedan from the New York Islanders in exchange for center Alexandre Mallet and a third-round pick in 2016.

Pedan, a 6-foot-4 Moscow native, has played six games with the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season, recording three assists and 51 penalty minutes.

He played for Russia at the 2011 junior world championship. Pedan was originally selected by the New York Islanders in the third round, 63rd overall, of the 2011 NHL draft.

Mallet, a 6-2 Montreal native, has four goals, seven assists and 20 penalty minutes for the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings this season. He was selected by Vancouver in the second round, 57th overall, of the 2012 draft.

The Islanders (15-6) are off to a blazing start, tied for first place in the Metropolitan Division with the Penguins.
