High School Football Game In Bridgeport Stopped After Gunfire Erupts

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Thanksgiving Day high school football game was suspended in Bridgeport after gunshots were fired nearby, authorities said.

Officials suspended the game between Warren Harding and Central high schools after shots were fired around 11:15 Thursday morning at Boston and Central avenues.

Police found shell casings at the scene, but no victim. Authorities contacted local hospitals to see if anyone had come in with a gunshot wound. They said it appears no one was hurt.

It's unclear how many shots were fired.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing.

The game was attended by Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch and his sons, the Connecticut Post reported.
