Activist Wants Police To Release Description Of Suspects In Middlesex County Home Invasions

EDISON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Some Middlesex County residents are calling for police to release a description of the suspects in a half-dozen home invasions in recent weeks.

All of the victims have been families of South Asian or Indian decent, and each of the heists were pulled off by about three robbers, WCBS 880's Levon Putney reported.

"Somebody just come right up from behind you and put a gun under your head, what are you going to do?" said longtime community activist Pradip Peter Kothari.

"And still till today, they have not given a description."

Kothari said he understands investigators may not want to say too much and hurt their chances of catching the suspects. "But when you are not safe in your own home, where are you going to be safe?" he said.

Kothari said residents would like descriptions released so they know who to look out for.

The Middlesex County prosecutor's office has not returned an email and phone call seeking comment.

On Saturday night, a group of men entered a home in Old Bridge, tied up the family members with duct tape and stole cash and jewelry, police said.

Similar home invasions have been reported in Edison and South Plainfield.

Authorities believe the robberies may be linked and that South Asian-Indian families are being targeted.
