Islip Officials Unveil Remodeled MacArthur Airport

ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Islip town officials on Thursday showed off some new state-of-the-art facilities at MacArthur Airport.

The airport in Ronkonkoma includes a new gift and wine shop, a restaurant, an art gallery and an atrium concert hall, WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.

Unveiling the renovation, Town Supervisor Tom Croci emphasized that efforts are ongoing to attract new business.

"We will have other airlines coming in," Croci said. "We have other concepts to pursue to make sure that that happens. Yeah, you can rest assured that the market is here. People want to fly out of MacArthur."

Croci said MacArthur Airport is responsible for more than $500 million in economic activity for the town and Suffolk County.
