12/8: CBS2 Monday Morning Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre Jr, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good Monday morning everybody! It's going to be a very cold start across the area with temps staring in the teens and 20s, with chills in the single digits and teens! The rest of the day? Still breezy with increasing clouds. We'll max out at 38 in NYC, feeling more like the upper 20s. Some late day drizzle is possible, but that's really nothing compared to what's in store Tuesday.

Morning Coastal Concerns

Another major storm will affect the region - a ture nor'easter. The good news right off the bat is that we will NOT have a repeat of the pre-Thanksgiving storm; we won't have places getting a foot of snow. It's a "warmer" storm but it's also stronger. The brunt of it looks to be late morning through late afternoon Tuesday. Wind gusts over 50 mph are possible especially out east on LI and along the coasts. As for rainfall, 2-3" likely, perhaps up to an inch or two of wintry precip (including snow, sleet, and freezing rain) - but it would be contained well north and west of the city.

Storm Rundown

We're not totally done Tuesday night, still windy with lingering precip Wednesday, and maybe some sprinkles or flurries on Thursday. Temps both days will be in the low 40s, but the winds will make it feel a bit cooler than that.

Stay tuned for the latest updates!
