Report: John Idzik Has Lost Support Within Jets' Organization

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Is the end near for Jets general manager John Idzik?

On the surface, it doesn't look good.

The billboards. The banners. The 'penalty flags' for the final home game. The cap space. The 2-11 record. The questionable draft.

But below the surface, it looks even worse.

According to ESPN, Idzik has lost support within the organization this season, from the front office to the coaching staff.

The website reports that management is aware that there is plenty of discontent with regard to Idzik, and owner Woody Johnson will take that into account when he goes into evaluation mode following the season.

Head coach Rex Ryan has long been rumored to be on the hot seat, and Idzik doesn't appear to be safe, either. Major changes could be on the way.

"Woody's competitive, he wants what's best for this football team," Ryan said after the Jets lost to the Vikings in overtime on Sunday. "He's passionate and he wants to put a great product on the field ... So I'm responsible for this, and I'll tell Woody and our fans and everybody else that. This is on me.

"...Obviously, I deserve a lot of criticism for the way this team's performed this season. I get that. But Woody doesn't. I can tell you that much. The Jets are in good hands with him as the owner, that's for sure."

Idzik is in just his second year as Jets general manager.
