Life-Size Gingerbread Houses Unveiled At Madison Square Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Just as the nor'easter began moving out and left behind gusty winds, three life-size gingerbread houses were unveiled in Madison Square Park Tuesday evening.

As 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported, the people behind the three gingerbread houses may be described as a bit cruel – because the houses really look edible.

But they are not, according to Taste of Home Magazine editor Catherine Cassidy.

"They're big, and pretty… no, you probably wouldn't want to taste them," Cassidy said.

The houses are courtesy of the magazine, in cooperation of Kellogg's Rice Krispies. They comprise Gingerbread BLVD, the first ever collection of their kind.

The unveiling of the gingerbread houses coincided with a tree-lighting ceremony at Madison Square Park. Cassidy was kind enough to bring along enough gingerbread cookies for everyone to sample.
