The Mistletones Bringing Christmas Joy To South Street Seaport Through Song

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Misteltones have been helping to bring Christmas spirit to the South Street Seaport since 2009.

In that time, the a cappella group has seen the area bounce back after Superstorm Sandy.

"What's wonderful down there is they have an ice rink that they started doing last year," Christopher Lengerich told CBS2's Andrea Grymes in an in-studio interview. "The giant tree is back. They've really recovered really well after Sandy. And the Seaport is lit up so beautiful. We were just there last week admiring the lights in the evening. It's just a great destination. There's shopping. There's wonderful new restaurants and bars that have opened down there, and we're just so delighted to be a part of it every weekend."

"The collective spirt of the season is really there," added Emily Firth. "It's the ice skating, the tree, the shops."

The Misteltones feature Lengerich, Firth, Mallory Hawks and Eric Carter. They are performing every Friday (1 to 3 p.m.) and Saturday and Sunday (2 to 4 p.m.) through December at the South Street Seaport.
