Creative Gift Ideas For Those Who Have Everything

WESTFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- This holiday season, what do you give someone who has everything?

As CBS2's Christine Sloan reported, we're all on a holiday shopping mission at this time of year, and some people struggle for ideas.

But Sloan found endless ideas in the New Jersey suburbs. Jessica Wernes of Westfield, for example, sends boxes of photos.

"These are family photographs that are being delivered to some families who had their pictures taken," she said, "and I am a photographer, and I think that is something that is always a treasure that they'll enjoy for years."

Food lovers suggest spice gifts sets at the Spice Shop, also in Westfield.

The shop has gift sets available "ranging from pasta lovers, to baking, to barbecue," said Spice Shop owner Rebecca Solheim. "That's a set of eight different salts, ranging from truffle salt, lime salt; we have Hawaiian salts."

And every spice at the Spice Shop has a recipe card to go along with it.

For techies, a portable iPad desk is suggested. Also among the options are watches that measure distance and a fitness band.

"So we now have the Vivo Smart that you can link up to your smartphone device," said T.J. Heaney of City Sports. "It tracks calories. You can see text messages coming in."

And how about a Broadway show ticket or a spa trip, or better yet, suggested Jennifer Ruf of Westfield, "Donate to charities; people that don't have anything."

Jan Silletti did just that, on a trip to California.

"So my husband and I went to McDonald's and bought a lot of gift certificates or gift cards, and as we drove along the beach, we handed them out to the homeless people so they had something to eat," Silletti said. "It was a wonderful feeling. So that's our Christmas gift to each other."

Among other suggestions are concert tickets or a planned day excursion.
