Bridgeport Mayor's Christmas Card Features President Obama With Family

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - The picture on the front page of the Connecticut Post: President Obama posing with the mayor of Bridgeport and his family on the mayor's holiday card.

As WCBS 880's Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported, it was just a couple of days before the election when President Obama was in Bridgeport to boost Mayor Bill Finch's re-election efforts and get voters out to the polls.

Bridgeport Mayor's Christmas Card Features President Obama With Family

Mayor Finch said it was his 8-year-old son who came up with the idea to persuade the president to pose for a picture with the whole family. The president agreed.

"It's one of those special times. It only lasted a minute or so because you get ushered through, but it was a precious minute for these kids and I know it's a moment they'll never forget and they're treasure the photograph," Finch said.

Mayor Finch said everyone in the family agreed the best way to share it was to convert the photo into a holiday card which delivers greetings to everyone in the mayor's family-- and President Obama.
