12/25 CBS2 Thursday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Merry Christmas!

Our high temperature for today was a balmy 62. That happened while Santa was still making his rounds, shortly after 3 this morning. In fact, we were only 2 off from the record high for Christmas Day! Check in below to see some more of the records from Christmases past.

Temps have been and will continue to drop through this afternoon as a cold front sweeps through - into the 40s for your Christmas dinner, and eventually the 30s overnight. The rain is finally outta here, and conditions will continue to improve! Expect mostly sunny skies this afternoon, followed by mostly clear skies tonight.

The catch is that it will stay windy today, out of the west 20-25 mph with gusts up to 40 at times. Winds decrease a little tonight, but gusts up to 30 mph are still possible. Definitely not a good day for those holiday decorations.

Tomorrow is looking like a beautiful end to the week, with mostly sunny skies and a high around 49 in the city. This trend continues right into Saturday, with just a few clouds and highs topping out in the lower 50s. Next chance of some rain will be on Sunday, but should just be some light showers at the most.

Be sure to check back in later for the latest. Have a wonderful Christmas, and Happy Holidays to all!
