NYC Health Department Announces Most Popular Baby Names Of 2013
New York (CBSNewYork) -- Oh baby!
Jayden and Sophia were the most popular baby names in New York City in 2013, according to the health department.
Jayden has been the number one boys name for the last five years, while Sophia remained the number one girls name for the second year in a row.
The Health Department's birth certificate records showed that more than 740 Jaydens and more than 630 Sophias were born in the Big Apple in 2013.
"Choosing a baby's name is for many parents a tremendously meaningful moment in their life. We also we want to make sure that families are able to bring our newest New Yorkers into a healthy, safe environment," said Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett, whose name "Mary" ranked 114 this year.
