Health Dept. Inspectors Dish Out Fewer Restaurant Violations This Year

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It appears many of New York City's restaurants are cleaning up their act.

Figures from the health department show inspectors dished out fewer violations this year compared with last year, CBS2 reported.

Restaurants received 32,392 health code violations from January to November of 2014.

That's down 13 percent from the same period a year ago.

And many summonses are being dismissed; 42 percent were successfully appealed this year, CBS2 reported.
