Officials Warn Of Tax Assessor Scam In Brookhaven
BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A tax assessor scam has left residents and their homes vulnerable to outsiders.
As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, residents in the town of Brookhaven have been receiving scam letters.
Officials Warn Of Tax Assessor Scam In Brookhaven
The letters claim town workers will be going door to door inspecting properties, but it's not true said the town supervisor.
If someone does knock on your door claiming they're with the town, officials said don't let them inside and instead call 911.
