NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Since the shooting deaths of two on-duty NYPD officers two weeks ago there has been an outpouring of support for the officers’ wives and families.

Among those stepping up is the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

CBS2’s Andrea Grymes and Diane Macedo sat down with the foundation’s co-founder and chairman, Frank Siller.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is in the process of raising money in an effort to pay for the mortgages of fallen officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

The goal is $800,000 and on Saturday, Siller said they’ve now collected a total of $700,000.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was founded in memory of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller. On 9/11, Siller abandoned his truck and ran through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel with all his gear toward the World Trade Center. He was killed when the South Tower collapsed.
