NYPD: Man Tries To Rape 24-Year-Old Woman In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape in Queens.

The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on Dec. 20 in Flushing.

A 24-year-old woman was walking on 43rd Avenue when police said the suspect grabbed her from behind, put his hands around her mouth, pulled her to the ground and tried to sexually assault her.

The victim managed to fight off her attacker who then fled the scene, police said.

The suspect is described by police as a Hispanic man, approximately 5'5" tall, weighing 130 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and pocked skin. The suspect was last seen wearing black sneakers, a brown jacket and a black backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips to the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
