Police: Man Squeezed Into High-Wheel Subway Turnstile, Groped Woman's Buttocks

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Tuesday night for a man who allegedly groped a woman's buttocks in a downtown Brooklyn subway station last month.

The 24-year-old woman got off an R Train at the DeKalb Avenue station around 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, and went through a high-wheel turnstile to exit, police said. High-wheel or Rotogate turnstiles operate similarly to revolving doors.

As she entered the turnstile, the suspect squeezed in behind her and grabbed her buttocks, police said. The woman was not injured.

The suspect ran off, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male between the ages of 30 and 40, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 250 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing black jeans and a black coat with a fur-trimmed hood.

Police have released a surveillance photo of a suspect.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
