Brooklyn Memorial To Fallen NYPD Officers Removed

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A memorial near where two police officers were ambushed and killed in Brooklyn last month has been removed.

Flowers, candles, photos, flags and notes were placed at the corner of Myrtle and Tompkins avenues in honor of Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.

The officers had been sitting in their patrol car on Dec. 20 when police said a gunman approached and fired four shots, killing them. He then ran into a subway station and killed himself.

According to people who work on the block, police removed the memorial earlier this week.
