Teen Arraigned In Bronx Street Attack On Woman With Baby

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A teenager arrested after a videotaped street attack on a woman with a baby has been arraigned in the Bronx.

District Attorney Robert Johnson said Thursday that an indictment charges Alonzo Brown, 18, with robbery, grand larceny, reckless endangerment and child endangerment.

Police released a video showing a man rushing the woman from behind and taking a "flying drop kick" while stealing her phone. She had her 3-month-old son strapped to her as she crashed to the sidewalk.

The mother and baby were treated at a hospital.

"I was holding my baby … in front, and I felt something push me hard from the back, and I fell … on my baby," the woman said in Spanish to CBS2 last month.

If convicted, Brown could face 3 1/2 to 15 years behind bars.

His attorney did not immediately respond to a comment request.

After his arrest last month, Brown told reporters he was sorry and "I didn't see the baby."

He is due back in court on April 14.
