NYPD: Man Shot In Back 4 Times In Lower East Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The NYPD is investigating after a man was shot in the back in the Lower East Side Monday.

Around 7:03 p.m., police say a 22-year-old man was walking down Rivington Street between Pitt and Ridge streets when the suspect approached him, shooting him four times in the back.

Now, police are asking for the public's help in identifying the male suspect, last seen wearing white sneakers and a black jacket. Police have also released video surveillance of the suspect in hopes of identifying him.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is currently listed in critical condition, according to the NYPD.
