Big Apple Shelter Kittens Appear In Puppy Bowl XI On Animal Planet
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Once again this year, Big Apple Kitties take to the field, as part of the annual Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet.
More than 20 kittens rescued by Animal Care & Control of New York City will be featured in Animal Planet's BISSELL® Kitty Halftime Show during Puppy Bowl XI.

Executive Director Risa Weinstock says these kittens all had the benefit of being placed in temporary homes ones as part of AC&C's foster program. "Fostering is so important for two reasons in particular", Weinstock told 1010 WINS. "First, it frees up space in the shelter and allows us to care for all of the other animals. And secondly, it provides much needed socialization."
Weinstock notes that AC&C does not adopt out a kitten younger than 8 weeks, so being in a foster home allows them the time and nurturing necessary to make them healthy and available for adoption.
Anyone who's interested in fostering can sign up for a foster orientation session, by visiting http://www.nycacc.org/Foster.htm.
