After Recent Snow, Ice And Rain, Falling Ice Poses Risk

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Be careful out there.

After the recent wintry blast, there have been numerous reports of ice plunging from tall buildings around New York City.

Debbie Vandervoet told CBS2's Tracee Carrasco that she noticed danger from above when she saw several chunks of ice falling from 4 World Trade Center.

"It looked like glass falling down and coming off the windows," she said, "We were walking to the memorial this morning and big shards were falling off."

Cell phone video showed a piece of ice falling from a building on the West Side. The Sidewalk below was littered with chunks of ice and blocked off as a precaution.

Police responded Tuesday afternoon to Liberty & Trinity streets due to falling ice.

Nassau Street near Maiden Lane was also briefly roped off following reports of ice.

At 81st Street and West End Avenue, workers were knocking down ice to the street below, which was roped off.

So far there have been no reports of injuries.
