Family Seeks Justice After Man, 75, Killed In Hicksville Hit-And-Run

HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The family of a Long Island man killed in a hit-and-run accident is pleading for information or for the driver to come forward.

School bus driver Sebaptiste Augustin, 75, was struck Jan. 28 while walking to his job on West John Street in Hicksville.

"He was only 100 feet away, and he got hit by a car," his daughter, Alisha Augustin, told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera.

Family Pleads For Driver To Come Forward In Deadly L.I. Hit-Run

Augustin was found bleeding in the road near big piles of snow.

"Most likely there probably wasn't any room to walk on the sidewalk, so probably that's why he chose to walk on the side of the road instead," Alisha Augustin said.

Her father sustained severe head trauma and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries Monday.

"It's just a shock because my dad was a healthy man," Alisha Augustin said. "There was nothing wrong with him. Then one day he goes to work and then this happens."

She wants the driver brought to justice and is asking anyone with information to come forward.

"I believe that someone at least seen something," Alisha Augustin said.

Police are looking for a blue vehicle that fled the scene, heading toward the Hicksville train station.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
