Police: Man Took $2,800 From Open Safe At Hell's Kitchen Bar

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were searching for a man who allegedly took $2,800 from the safe in the manager's office of a Hell's Kitchen gastropub earlier this week.

Around 11:45 p.m. this past Tuesday, the suspect walked into BarBacon, at 836 Ninth Ave. between 54th and 55th streets, and headed to the manager's office in the basement, police said.

The man opened an unlocked safe and walked off with $2,800 in cash, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male about 50 years old, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shoes, a black coat, and blue jeans, police said.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect.
