Two Injured In House Explosion In The Hamptons

WATER MILL, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in the Hamptons community of Water Mill.

The house at Old Country Road and Montauk Highway was being demolished when it exploded at around 2:15 p.m., according to Southampton police.

Two workers suffered burns in the explosion. They were transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center, police said.

Capt. Lawrence Schurek says it appears the house was leveled.

The fire is gas fed, according to police.

"The whole house shook and it felt like an airplane crashed into the roof," Colleen Peterson, a neighbor, told Dan's Papers.
