Sore Carmelo Anthony Might Be Forced To Miss All-Star Game At MSG
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Carmelo Anthony has admitted that he's strongly considering shutting it down for the season and undergoing surgery to repair his injured left knee.
So will Melo play in his eighth All-Star Game at Madison Square Garden on Sunday?
He's not guaranteeing anything.
"I can't even think that far about that," the Knicks' superstar forward told reporters. "Of course I want to, I'd love to play. But if I can't, I can't. I won't even try to force it. Even though the game will be in New York and I'd love to play in front of that crowd, if I can't go, I can't go."
The 30-year-old has missed 12 games this season, and the Knicks announced on Wednesday that Anthony is doubtful for New York's game against the Magic.
"Now is the time to really start thinking and taking into consideration to fix it and when to take care of it," Anthony said. "Don't wait long, get it done now or after. (I'm) still trying to come to a decision. I'm not the doctor, but if I have to calculate myself, if I get it done now, (it will be) two months until I'm back actually on the court.
"But this is something I would take slowly. I won't try to rush it. From what I'm hearing, if I was to get it done sooner than later, then I'd be back to my regular working-out schedule in the summertime."
Anthony is averaging 24.2 points, 3.1 assists and 6.6 rebounds in 35.7 minutes per game this season.
