Manchester, N.J. Woman Reunited With Lost Dog After 2 Years

MANCHESTER, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A central New Jersey woman had all but given up hope of finding her missing dog – until a remarkable reunion this week.

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, it was more than two years ago that June Nicolaus' beloved yorkiepoo, named Annie, ran away.

"I was broken-hearted," she said. "You have no idea."

For six months, Nicolaus, of Manchester, New Jersey, did everything she could.

"I posted all kinds of flyers around, made calls, went door to door," she said.

She wondered if she'd ever see her dog again, and she didn't – until this week. The local animal control office called and said Annie had been found.

"She was so matted and gnarled, and had weeds all through her coat," Nicolaus said.

It is believed that Annie had been living in the woods a mile away.
