Son Arraigned On Murder Charges In Father's Fatal Shooting

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Bail has been maintained at $750,000 cash for a northern New Jersey man charged in the shooting death of his father last weekend.

Morris County prosecutors say 18-year-old Travis Hofstetter was arraigned Wednesday on murder and weapons charges in the slaying of 57-year-old James Hofstetter. His body was found Sunday in the family's home on Wedgewood Drive in Kinnelon.

A possible motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Police found the elder Hofstetter when they responded to reports of a medical emergency at the residence. Travis Hofstetter was arrested a short time later in nearby Hardyston Township.

Prosecutors declined further comment on the case or the court hearing, and it wasn't clear if Hofstetter has retained an attorney or if he was represented at the hearing by a public defender.
