4 Questions Facing The Mets As Spring Training Commences

By Daniel Friedman

Spring training has arrived, and with it comes the anticipation -- or dread, depending on your level of optimism -- of another season of Mets baseball.

The Mets are getting better with each passing year, and with most of their key players healthy they figure to have a decent shot at a playoff spot in 2015. But they are certainly not without their question marks.

Here are four primary concerns:

1. How long of a leash does Matt Harvey have?

Coming off Tommy John surgery, you can be sure the Mets' coaching staff will keep a close eye on his innings. But how far will they let him go? And if they get to the playoffs, will they shut him down like the Nationals did with Stephen Strasburg?

2. Is Wilmer Flores the answer at shortstop?

Probably not. But for now, he'll have to do. Can he handle it? Will the Mets look elsewhere for another option?

3. Can this team produce enough offensively?

Certainly, there's reason to believe the Mets have a bit more firepower this season than they did last year. Michael Cuddyer, a more experienced Travis d'Arnaud and Flores over Ruben Tejada should help. But will it be enough?

4. Which David Wright will we see this year?

Will we finally see a triumphant return? Or will we see the watered-down version from last year? Time will tell.
